Stage set for Qatargas Chess Championship

DOHA, February 11, 2016 – The competitions of the third edition of Qatar Chess Championships 2016 will get underway at Al Muntaza Model Primary School for boys in Doha on Thursday.

The four day championship is organized by the Qatar Chess Association and will bring together children of age group ranged from 6-16 years old.

Qatargas is the title sponsor of this annual tournament which will be conducted as per the Swiss-system for rapid chess involving nine rounds with each round lasting 25 minutes and allowing ten seconds for every move.

In a pre-event press release on Wednesday, Qatar Chess Association (QCA) Secretary General Mohammed Al Modaihki confirmed that QCA is keen to spread the game among youngsters in effort to improve their mental skills and to support the national team with new talented elements.
