DOHA, March 12, 2015-The qualifications of Fencing Competitions For Primary Schools at the 8th edition of the Schools Olympic Program (SOP) came to an end on Wednesday.
The finals will be staged on March 20, 2015 at Aspire Academy. The competitions featured the participation of 157 students from 26 schools.
In Foil Event, Abdullah Jaleel from Al Manar Model School and Sabah Mohammad Al Rumaihi from Al Rashad Independent School qualified to the finals.
Mohammad Al Obaidly from Al Manar School and Khalid Waleed from Al Andalus School finished third.
In Epee Event, Jaleed from Lycee Voltaire and Mohammad Al Sulaiti from Abi Hanifa Schools made it to the finals while Gerole and Sherwil from Bonaparte School shared the third place.
Saif Nasser from Al Qadisiya School and Nabil Karama from Ebila International School cruised to the finals of Sabre Event.
SOP is a pioneer idea that came in response to the prestigious initiative of the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is also the President of QOC, in an attempt to link sports activities with others, besides encouraging school students to practice sport as an integral part of their daily life.
SOP is a pioneering sport programme inspired and staged by Qatar years ago, which has received an overwhelming response from all entities of the country and has now become an annual sport event supervised by QOC along with other permanent partners.
