Secretary General meets World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen

DOHA,  April 13, 2015 — His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) met Norwegian Chess Grandmaster, Magnus Carlsen at the QOC Headquarters on Thursday.
Sheikh Saoud greeted the two times world champion (2013-2014)  and appreciated his  productive visit to Doha. It is worth mentioning that Carlsen is the youngest chess champion in the history with the highest ranking (2872) as well as the youngest  person who got grandmaster title in 2009 when he was only 19 year.
For his part, the Norwegian chess grandmaster appreciated the warm welcome he received during his productive visit, also applauded Qatar’s comprehensive development in the sports infrastructure and its ambitious strategy for development in all fields especially sport.
