Doha, 19 December 2015: In an exciting match as part of the Qatar national Day celebrations, the Asian town International Cricket stadium saw the hosts; Qatar stars beat Pakistan stars by 10 runs.
Cricket fans in Doha were giving a wonderful opportunity to witness a T20 match between Pakistan stars and Qatar stars last Friday. With festive mood of Qatar, the Asian Town international Cricket stadium was completely filled with cricket fans. Heavy traffic leading to the stadium was a testimony to the buzz the event had created. Both Qatar Stars and Pakistan stars had international payers form Pakistan national team and other top players from the Indian , Pakistani and Sri Lankan community. This game was good testimony that Doha is a good host for any international cricket match
Pakistan Stars won the toss and Captain Salman Butt chose to bowl and face the Qatari batting threat right away. The fans were looking out at the Pakistani pace blower Mohammed Asif returning back after a long time.
The Qatar Stars got a very good start in the game with Nasir Jamshed scoring 40 out of 24 balls. His innings was a treat for the audience with a lot of boundaries and was later caught in an excellent delivery by Mohammed Asif. Nasir was declared the Man of the match for his match decisive innings.
Eahan Adil got 2 excellent wickets of Mohammed Asim & Iqbal Chowdery and Rana Naveed followed this with another wicket. Now the Pakistan Stars were looking in control after the loss of some quick wickets of Qatar stars batting squad – meant they were always off the pace in the chase.
The hosts got back on track after Iqbal (14), Tamoor (22) and Bilawal (27) laid a sound platform with the total score of 146 in 20 over. Tamoor & Asim Ali were not out till the end f their innings.
Chasing a target of 147 for victory, the Pakistan were looking good with Kamran Akmal (07) & Captain Salman Butt (28) opening their batting line-up. With Asim Ali and J Hussian in action Qatar Stars got some quick wickets and 147 was looking like more than enough against a struggling Pakistan Stars. Only Fawad Alam(48) and Rana Naveed (37) made it look interesting for the visitors and now the game was getting exciting for the audience . With Extras of 13, Pakistan Stars made a final score of 137 from 20 overs loosing to Qatar for 10 runs. The Qatar stars bowlers shared the wickets around, though J Hussain (2- 23 from 4), Asim Ali (2-15 from 3) were statistically the best of them.
Asim Ali (2-15) from Qatar Stars was awarded the best blower and Fawad Alam 48 (38) from Pakistan was the best batsman of the match
