DOHA, January 30, 2014 – Qatar International Cricket Women’s Championship jointly organized by the Qatar Olympic Committee and West End Park was successfully concluded in Doha.
The two weeks long championship brought together top women cricket teams from South Africa, Pakistan and Ireland.
Mr. Mana Ibrahim Al Mana, the chairman of West End Park, Essa Ali Ghanem representative of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and Assistant – Secretary General of Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) and Manzoor Ahmed, Technical expert at QCA crowned the winners in a festive sport scene.
Senior personalities, Ambassadors of participating teams, sponsors and media representatives attended the event closing ceremony.
The event Organizing Committee presented the souvenirs and honored the participating teams and contributors under the patronage of International Cricket Council (ICC) in a festive sport scene.
In a post-event release, Mr. Mana Ibrahim Al Mana, expressed confidence at Qatar becoming a cricket hub in the future. he said “The hosting of the International Cricket Women’s championship has demonstrated Qatar’s commitment in patronizing the growth of the sport in Qatar. The championship was one major step in making the sport popular to all the communities in Qatar.”
“ Success of the championship has demonstrated Qatar’s ability and capability to host international cricket championship and other sporting events, also the success of the championship has encouraged us in our endeavor to host more international cricket championships in Qatar” said Mana.
