Pakistan thrash Ireland by 110 runs in Women’s Tri-Nations Opener

DOHA, January 11, 2014-Pakistan opened their Qatar International Women’s cricket Championship campaign on a winning note with a crushing 110-run win over Ireland in the opening match, played at the floodlit West End Park cricket stadium in Doha.
Pakistan posted a competitive 183-9 in 50 overs after opting to bat first. Opener Nahiba top-scored with a breezy 36, with captain Sana Mir contributing 23. The highest contribution to Pakistan’s innings came in the form of extras — a whopping 51 (38 wides, 10 no-balls, 3 leg-byes).
Ireland were bowled out for a paltry 73 off 31 overs in reply. Opener Clare Mary led their chase with 29 but once she was run out, the rest fell like a pack of cards. Captain Mir shone with the ball too, her 23 coupled with two wickets getting her the man-of-the-match trophy.
