Doha, November 19, 2016 – Egypt’s Karim Abdel Gawad won today Qatar Classic 2016, after defeating his compatriot Mohammed El Shorbagy 3-0.
The final, which took place in Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, ended 12-10, 15-13 and 11-7 for 25 year-old Abdel Gawad.
President of Qatar Squash Federation Nabil Ali bin Ali and CEO of Professional Squash Association Alex Gough handed the trophy to the winner.
Abdel Gawad seems to be developing a rivalry with his compatriot El Shorbagy. Abdel Gawad won Qatar Classic for the first time this year. He also defeated El Shorbagy last week in the final of the world championship. Abdel Gawad had never won a major tournament before.
